I just haven’t done it yet, or have I?

About me, the author, and why I am writing this blog.

My name is Sarah, I am a woman with a very common first name surname combination, if you google, or use any other search engine of your choice, me, you will be returned approximately 393 million (yes really, million) results. There are a lot of us doing stuff on the internet. Added to this, my email address, while ostensibly unique, happens to be oh so very similar to a lot of these people!

I get a lot of mail that is intended for these other Sarahs (this is a plural not a possessive). And not spam in the traditional sense, no one is offering to transfer millions to my bank account, nor are they offering hot sex, I do get these types of spam, everyone does. The mails I am talking about here are are in a different category. Some is your average marketing content from sites that the Sarahs have incorrectly entered their own email addresses. Will ponder on the how and why another day. Most is real life stuff, families arranging group photos, netball teams organising practice, normal mundane stuff. Just in case you are wondering, yes I tell people that they have the wrong Sarah. However all these mails, and the frequency of them got me thinking, what are the Sarahs of the world doing? What is going on in their lives?

If you are old enough you might remember the Gwyneth Paltrow film; am Irish so it is definitely a film pronounced fil-um, never a movie; when she was an actor and not a ‘lifestyle guru‘ called Sliding Doors. The premise is that your life can change in an instant, the catching of the tube or the doors sliding closed in your face – I won’t go into the details – no spoilers here, but it is an interesting concept, and one that I remember probably because of Richard Herring (RHLSTP)!

So, I had been mulling over things to do to add creativity to my life, working in software development doesn’t always fill me with joy, as it can be dull, managing people, and reminding them to do their actual job, the one that they are paid to do, despite their complaints about everything! Deep breath! Anyway, one of my ideas was this blog, to write about the Sarahs of the misdirected emails, imagining what, if any, sliding door moment connected us, and making up a life for them.

When I said I was going to do this, some of the feedback was that I should actual go to meet the Sarahs, turn up for the wedding or photo that I have been invited to, however I am much to lazy for that, hence the title of the blog, I just haven’t done it yet! I am a procrastinator of the highest order, the idea for this blog came to me back in August 2019, it is March 2020 as I write my first post. God forbid any post would require action, it would never happen at all!

So, here is another blog, in the firmament of blogs, I will mostly be writing about the Sarahs. I may deviate to food, music, crafts, and books.

100% different from all the other blogs I know!

Keep reading, it is going to get better!

Sarah
